Eurolist International Limited

Our Services

The Eurolist territory includes Northwestern Europe, including the UK & Ireland, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean (north shore) and Eastern Europe (including Russia). Areas further afield, such as Turkey, Israel and the Middle East in general are not customarily included in our territory, however some reliable contact information is available in respect of the shipping lines situated in these countries.

Generally, the services which Eurolist provides as representatives in the territory fall into one of the following three main categories. However, specific arrangements to suit the requirements of individual ports can be accommodated and become part of a bespoke service portfolio.

Market Intelligence Gathering

This is the Eurolist routine work and it focuses on networking with a large number of shipping companies and the larger importers/exporters, trading groups and prominent freight forwarding companies situated in Europe. This regional coverage is based on a process of continuous contacts through personal visits and supplemented by telephone and email communications. This activity produces a wide range of current market intelligence and the usual format to distribute this information is by way of a regular report, bespoke to individual client ports. The reporting frequency is usually monthly and will incorporate any information relevant to an individual port in an agreed style. Naturally, instant communications, by telephone and e-mail, are used on matters necessitating a degree of urgency. Our database is a dynamic instrument, recording ongoing changes in responsibilities of the individuals at different levels in the hierarchy.

Port Marketing & Trade Promotion

As a result of the company’s extensive contacts with the industry press, regular involvement with press releases, editorial coverage (and in some cases advertising) on behalf of client ports is the norm. Specific customer and press events and communications to achieve certain promotional objectives of the port are agreed with individual clients. Moreover, sales trips and trade missions to the European territory are frequently organised for clients and this customarily includes proposing and arranging a series of meetings and presentations to existing and potential port customers, combined with making arrangements for travel, accommodation and any special events. Routinely, a Eurolist executive would be available throughout the client visit and travel with the client delegation.

Sales

It is customary for Eurolist to “open the corporate doors” of potential port users and to obtain feed-back from existing port users to enable the client ports to negotiate directly with the carriers the detailed terms under which either new business is being attracted or existing business is being retained at the port. Exceptionally, Eurolist has in the past undertaken to become involved in direct negotiations with carriers on behalf of certain client ports.

It is worthy of note that our longstanding association with the Port of Los Angeles has caused us to be engaged from the early days of the latter’s AMP (“Cold Ironing”) program in a continuous dialogue with the carriers and other interested parties in Europe, in order to understand the practicalities of the program and subsequently to communicate the Los Angeles plans for implementation of the technology. This close involvement with what has since become a much wider range of environmental programs continues today and now includes regular contacts with the International Maritime Organization to monitor progress on the subject of MARPOL Annex VI and other current issues, as well as contact with EU and individual European Governments on a range of common and/or unilateral environmental projects and initiatives.
